SA VISION SUR LE PDN :
« Dans la métropole lilloise, on sait que ça carbure au numérique. Le fait d’attirer les gens par le Printemps du Numérique crée un effet boule de neige : plus on attire de monde... »
I got my high school diploma in 2010 and I did the largest part of my study at Lille University. I began by two years of mathematics and computer science.
2013 - 2014During this period, I had no clue about my future job and what I wanted to do with my life. I took a break from my study and started working for several companies with short-term and temporary contracts.
2015 - 2016As I used to play video games with a friend who was a web designer, I decided to try to create my own website. With his advice I spent two years working on it. I managed to increase my trafic regularly and reached 25,000 page views a month for around 4,500 visitors.
But I was a beginner and the website's pages were slow to load. I then decided to go back to school to learn web development. The CNAM training centre trusted in my project and gave me a place for a 4-month course.
At the end of the course I had to find an internship but the French employment agency Pôle Emploi called me to propose another course in computer science. I accepted and started a new 3-month course with Global Knowledge, a Microsoft partner, where I learned about C# programming.
The courses sponsored by Pôle Emploi are called P.O.E., they are organised in partnership with IT companies. That kind of training is a great system for students. Indeed, in theory, you have to be hired by a company to start the training.
You can enter the training without companies but the organisers are almost obligated to find a job for you. I got the chance to be hired by the French IT company Altran.
To work with a company, Pôle Emploi organises job dating. I got to know Altran by participating in one of these job dating sessions.
Another organisation for job seekers, called the M.I.E, was also present helping organising the event. The M.I.E interviewed me, see the result on the right :

Altran accepted that I pursue my study and I entered the University Institute of Technology of the Lille University to do a third year. This year was oriented toward web development.
I followed the course in an alternating work/study mode. I was half of the time at the university learning computer science, and the second part of that time doing web development for Altran. Altran initiated me to Data Science and I wanted to pursue my study in that domain.
I Decided to do a Master in computer science with a large part of mathematics. The SIAD Master of Lille University had a lot of advantages, teaching Statistics and Computer science by following the Data Science speciality. Moreover, it was open to the alternative mode work/study.
I did the Master's first year with the Cofidis company as a web analyst.
I changed company and got hired by Easyence, a strongly Data oriented company where I worked as a Software Engineer. I was doing web development and earned professional certifications thanks to the company.
I discovered Machine Learning with Python during the courses given by the SIAD Master. I really enjoyed working on the different project.
The last one we did for the university was the Kaggle project, "House Prices". I spent a lot of time working on it and continued after having submitted it to my teachers.
When I finished the Master, I needed to follow another course, if possible strongly oriented toward Python and Machine Learning, in order to increase the accuracy of my models.
I obtained the Coursera "IBM Data Science Professional Certificate" which helped to increase again the accuracy of my models for the Kaggle competition.
